Elaine Chang is a Singaporean equity research analyst based in Hong Kong, covering Asia-Pacific equity markets with a focus on technology, biotechnology, new energy, and consumer sectors.She expertise in Wind/Bloomberg research data, plus knowledge with Python/SQL and valuation methods including DCF, PE. Early life and education

Chang was born in Singapore. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Singapore Management University (SMU),[1] graduating in 2013. She later pursued graduate studies at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where she obtained a Master of Finance degree in 2015.

CITIC Securities International (2021–2024)

From September 2021 to March 2024, Chang worked at CITIC Securities International in Hong Kong, covering the TMT (technology, media, and telecommunications) sector in Greater China.

Sharrow Digital Securities Limited (2024–present)

In May 2024, Chang was appointed Securities Analyst at Sharrow Digital Securities Limited, a digital securities firm based in Hong Kong. In this role, she leads industry research across the Asia-Pacific equity markets, covering technology, biotechnology, new energy, and consumer discretionary sectors.

In the second half of 2024, Chang led a biotechnology sector research initiative identifying five high-growth innovative pharmaceutical companies. The associated investment portfolio generated returns exceeding 35 per cent within the year. She developed a quantitative earnings forecasting and valuation model integrating discounted cash flow (DCF) and EV/EBITDA methodologies.

From January to August 2023, Chang headed a team of ten researchers studying post-pandemic recovery in Asia-Pacific consumer and retail sectors across Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. The team conducted on-site research at more than 20 retail establishments and online platforms, identifying nine companies positioned to outperform through the recovery cycle. A subsequent report proposing a dual-thesis framework of “physical retail recovery plus digital transformation” was adopted by over ten institutional clients.

Between May and December 2022, Chang led an initiative to enhance valuation models for Hong Kong-listed new economy companies, addressing challenges posed by inconsistent profitability. The revised model incorporated non-financial metrics including user growth curves and technology patent valuations.

Professional credentials

Chang holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a licensed holder of Type 1, 4, and 9 regulated activities with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. She is also a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) charterholder.
